A TSW story

A big thank you to Louise Jones, the author of ‘Taming the Scratchy Monster’ and topicalsteroidwithdrawal blog, who met with me today to speak about her own experiences of steroid addiction.

Meeting at Walsall Art Gallery, we had a good chat about the eczema that led to Louise’s addiction, her experience of coming off steroid creams, her wonderful children’s book (which she wrote to help children understand TSW) and Louise’s hopes to continue raising awareness for TSW.

The interview will be part of my main radio piece, which will explore the use of steroid creams in treating TSW and will be on the blog soon.

  2. Hi,

Due to the way my email was set up I've only just seen this comment, sorry!

I have been speaking to dermatologists, and TSA sufferers for a radio piece which will be exploring what TSA is and why doctors still prescribe steroid treatments.

There's debate between doctors who don't believe the condition actually exists, those who believe it does and a sufferer (the lovely Louise) telling us what she'd like to see being done differently by doctors.

I'll also be doing a written online piece alongside this. It will explore using the internet as a way to diagnose conditions including the dangers, and why people feel the need to go online for help.

I'll make sure to keep everyone updated and will post the final online project for everyone to have a look at :)
